We give all qualified teachers a personal interview so we can find out about you and what you want from your work
Not every teaching agency gives you a personal interview, but we do. What's more your personal interview is always conducted by someone who is an ex teacher, so we know what the issues are, and we have seen life very much from your side of the fence.
What do we look for in our interview? We simply ask everybody the same standard things. We want to establish your experience, your knowledge of National Curriculum, and we talk to you about classroom management and principles of pupil assessment. We want to know about your commitment, your character and your attitude to teaching in general. We ask you about your health. In this way, we can get to know you and the kinds of
assignments for which you will be suitable. We want to find work which fits you in every possible circumstance. We will expect you to bring a list of things with you. There's a checklist online to help you out.

We need nursery nurses, classroom assistants, qualified nursery teachers, primary teachers and qualified secondary teachers in all subjects
There is a huge range of schools in our chosen area and we need teachers of good quality in every category. Many of the teachers we speak to are often unsure as to whether their qualifications are correct for the
sector in which they are interested. There is a simple solution. Either take a look at our online application form, or perhaps our guidelines for overseas teachers to see if your qualifications fit or if there is any doubt whatsoever, simple pick up the telephone and have a chat with us, on 0208 778 9944. We talk to people just like you every day of the week and we will soon ascertain whether we will be able to offer you anything which is
suitable. In general only original or notarized copies of teaching qualifications are accepted. Teachers qualified outside the EEC must also produce accepted comparability from UK NARIC.
Every qualified teacher receives a personal interview from us, which is not something offered by every teaching agency.

We take responsibility for your salary payments, statutory deductions & employer's national insurance contributions
We strongly believe in taking a professional approach to our business and pride ourselves on maintaining very high standards of service. This means that when a Solo teacher produces a signed timesheet from the school
at which they have been working, we commit to providing prompt weekly payment. You may find that other teaching agencies like to keep you waiting for your money. We, on the other hand, know just how important it is to pay you on time. We believe in taking care of you and we look after all the small details like paying your National Insurance and other statutory deductions, simply so that you don't have to worry about it. It's all shown in the payslip
you receive from us too, so you can check over the itemised amount and you have a written record to show that the statutory deductions have been paid.
We will need references and expect you to answer some short health questions
Teachers are required to provide two professional referees who can comment on their teaching experience and skills in the last three years. One of these must be from their last teaching position. Open references are always checked for validity to ensure authenticity. We need to ask you for these
references simply because all of the schools with which we work require them. What are the short health questions about? In order to assess you and which schools and activities you might be able to contribute towards, we ask some simple questions about your health personally during your interview. Rest assured that your details are respected by us and remain private. We must stress that when you answer honestly, candidates with health
issues are treated fairly by us. There is a checklist of everything we expect you to bring for your interview - and if you would like to save time you can fill in the application form online here and now and despatch it to us on the Internet directly from this website, just by clicking a button.

We offer full insurance cover, a termly contract and a code of conduct. We value your feedback and use it to improve our service
When we find a good teacher, we want a long-term relationship. For that reason, we offer you some levels of reassurance in your relationship with us. Solo Plus staff are
automatically protected by our comprehensive cover which includes Employer's Liability Insurance.A copy of this can be viewed online here if you would like to see all the details. You get a proper contract which you can view in full by clicking the link. What's more, we have a pre-established code of conduct for teachers, which has served us and our teaching staff very well through the years. It's quite simple
and is well worth reading through. We value feedback from our teachers as it helps us to constantly improve our services. Most teachers prefer to give this personally either over the phone or in a short meeting. And if for any reason you have a problem we can act as an intermediary between you and the school to help try and resolve any difficult issues.

We have work near you in South East London, Docklands, Kent and Surrey
As a business we took the decision some years ago to focus only on the area which immediately surrounds South East London.
In this way, we could visit every school which is on our list and know its requirements.
For you as a teacher, this means we can usually give you a good brief about the school before you start any work there.
But more importantly, you know you will not have to go to the ends of the earth when you get an assignment from us. We will always strive to find a placement which is within reasonable travelling distance of your home
base. We find that most of our teachers like this aspect of the way in which we work!
Of course, for this reason we only choose to work with teachers who do reside in or near our area.

We work with teachers from an overseas background
We have some excellent teachers from an overseas background on our books. The first question they almost always ask us is: will my qualifications be suitable for the UK? There are three elements to our answer. First, in order to work with Solo Plus you must be based in this area: South East London,
Docklands, Kent and Surrey. Second, you must have permission to work. Third, you must have a relevant qualification. If you are an EU citizen, you have an automatic right to work in any EU country, including the UK. For other overseas countries, you must ensure you have permission to work.
At Solo Plus we cannot provide you with a work permit. We can offer you helpful advice however in our document:
Guidelines for Overseas Teachers. Also, fortunately there is a professional body which offers straight answers about your qualifications and their suitability. They are called UK NARIC and their address and phone number is: UK NARIC, Ecctis 2000 Ltd., Oriel Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL50 1XP. Tel: 0870 9904088, Fax: 01242 258611 info@naric.org.uk
